The story:

What I love most about Summer are flowers. It is wonderful to be in such unspeakably beautiful company. Just imagine those mesmerizing fields of golden sunflowers… They can fill ones Soul with warmth and joy.

Today was a rainy day and it felt good to use some warm, energizing colors. I bought some yellow glass seed beads many years ago but I didn’t opened them until today. I don’t know why I waited so long, but I am glad I finally made something with them. When I was trying to figure out how to use them I found myself wondering about being between bright yellow sunflowers taller than me. I was breathing in beauty and joy. The field was loud with bees and crickets and I just felt thankful to be the part of this magic. I was simply happy to be alive. And suddenly I found my theme:

The sunflower moves itself in the most direct position in front of the sun so it can get the maximum sun rays. This is symbolic of spiritual faith, and worship because we follow our belief system as the sunflower moves to face the life-giving rays of the sun. In Native American symbolism it is a symbol of the sun, and thus likened to the life-giving force of the Great Spirit. The color of the sunflower was noted for its vitality and symbolic of energy as well as fertility. Other symbolic sunflower meanings include faith, focus, magic, flexibility, spiritual knowing, vitality, good luck, happiness etc.
